Hello again...

So the front has 28 psi and the rear 38 psi. What do I put in the spare? I know in theory 38 psi and then if it needed to go on the front I could let a little out but I would struggle and do not have a gauge...I should get one.

Ta.

Stick 40-45 psi into it, that's the pressure that new disco 1 & 2 had in all the tyres when they were parked up awaiting sale and readjusted on pre delivery according to my dealer at time, may even be the same now with todays LRs.

Can't you just go to a tyre place and ask them to pump it up???

I can pump it up. That's not the issue. In me old car it was the same psi all the way round. In the Landy the front and back differ. Just a question out of curiosity really.

Not being a angry troll, but is abit of a silly question and you answered your own question. More = good as can be let down, less= bad unless you got on board compressor. Or if worst comes to worst aslong as there is air in it , will get you outta trouble then find a petrol station or garage and get em to do your pressures

Completely agree Ben, was VERY tempted to say something not entirely polite but the beer helped me to resist !!!

"I'm thinking that maybe I should pump my tyres up - what do you think?"

GGGGGGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have 45ish in mine as it goes down over time.

Too much worrying about tyre pressures, I put 35 in front and 35 in rears, but my 2.5n/a doesn't go over 45mph very often:)

Agreed, tyre pressures don't make that big of a difference. As a rule of thumb any where between 32-36 is normal car and wont cause any problems

You see that's the sort of helpful answer I expect from this good forum. If you don't like my post just jog along. ;-) I will get a pressure checker though. Ta folks. :)

In general, for your Disco 2 td5, the owners handbook quotes front 30 psi and rear 38 psi for normal loading and road conditions. I would then advise say 38-40 psi in the spare if you carry a pressure gauge; it's easier to let it down a bit than try to inflate it at the side of the road. If you don't carry a gauge then keep the spare to something like 34-36 psi if you want to be pedantic about it.

The main consideration is really that the spare is road legal and inflated when the time comes when it's needed.

As has been said already reasonable deviations won't affect the handling of the car, but over time over or under inflation will show up as uneven tyre wear.

Over inflation will cause the middle of the tread to wear and under inflation will cause both of the outer edges to show signs of wear.

Tyre wear or scuffing on one edge or the other is nothing to do with inflation but more to do with tracking.

Ask a daft question - get daft answers.

Seriously if the OP couldn't work this out for themselves, should they be driving at all?

Bare in mind there are single AND dual carriageways; days and nights; all sorts of decisions to be made.
