Ok, apart from ejecting er in doors and the billy lid. What is the best approach to take? Shall I buy a pre made kit, or go the buy the roll of stuff and cut to fit?
Has anybody ere add a go at it? J

Get yerself a series diesel or an early pre tdi defender. Drive around in it for a couple of weeks then get back in yer disco. You'll realise pretty much straight away that yer disco is in fact quiet as a mouse:D

do yu every go off roading - or through water?

if so - forget it unless yu want your motor to look like this!

this was caused by that crap black foam rubber soundprrofing, they fit into Discos - it acts like a sponge and continually rots the floor away.

I love discos but that's the reason I wouldn't have one long term.

yup

4 ways -

remove that sound deadening and carpet every time yu go thro water and make sure its dry - My black foam still aint dry after 3 weeks!

dont have that black crap in yo car - and put up with it being slightly noisier (no noisier than a deepender).

Cut all the rusty crap out and replace it - like wot I is gonna do while I have the inner wings off for replacing.

make sure yo Disco dont go anywhere near water or a British winter - Arizona mite be a good bet;)

All of mine will come out when I get me disco then lol. Not bothered if it's noisy inside! Its a landrover ffs. plus I'm sure you must be able to find some waterproof damping somewhere.

OK OK. I have got the message. Now for plan 'B" bigger speakers. I try to avoid the water. More of a desert driver. Cheers for all of the responses. I am always happy to listen to Sound advice (no pun intended).

Mines been ****in water in since I got it .Tried silicone , foam , paint still ****in in.Can't seem to find out exactly where its coming from .Sometimes I pull the carpet back and its like beads of water on the top of rubber mat like condensation .I give up.

I currently have all the interior removed so it dont catch fire while replacing the boot floor. Pulled the sound insulation out the front foot wells and nearly cryed at the mess I saw. A little bit of standing water in both foot wells and both completly rust covered. Atacked it with a wire brush in angle grinder and as it happened almost all of it was surface rust and it all cleaned up except one tiny hole in passenger foot well (1/8" rough dia) and one in the drivers side foot well (1/2" dia). Moped the worst of the water up with a few sheets of paper towel and the rest just dried within 30mins. Needless to say Im not putting that crappy sponge sound proofing back in. Every one should rip it out before you end up with a Flintstone car.... Yabba Dabba Dooooooooooooooooooooooo! Would improve braking being able to put your feet through the floor tho.:) For those of you who have removed the spongy stuff, do the carpet grippers/door treads hold the carpet in place when the sound proofing is removed? Oh... nearly forgot to mention cut the front sound proofing about 2" above floor level on the transmision tunnel so the only bit thats left will be under the centre console when it goes back in.
