I added a new safari door in nice new paint recently. I then decided to add some sound deadening to it and other areas in the rear loading area too. I used Dodomat which comes in sheets of aboutA4 size with self adhesive backing on the rubberised material. Its fire proof and stops the panels vibrating or booming. I used it on the inside of the new read door plus some waxoil from a spray can around the edges inside.
Then i also did the underside of the Defenders bonnet and the rear loading bay side panels as well.
Given that i have a straight through centre pipe now , the sound proofing has made it much quieter inside and a nicer place to be. I have now got another 20 sheets of it to do the seat box under the front seats and the rear roof area too. I then plan to add some smoke grey interior material which glues onto the Dodomat silver finish to hide it.
I recommend this is done as the rear door now doesnt allow in any noise at all.
Whilst at it, i fitted a new rear door striker plate as well and my nice new door now shuts with a donk noise instead of a nasty clang. It sound like real quality now unlike before. So the two side doors are about to get the same new strikers and Dodomat / Waxooil spray treatment too.
Cheap to do and all very effective and i recommend it to you.
