S'all about looks, I prefer southdown as they're more compact and you can coat them black or use black coloured steel or ally instead to make your own but safari do look good if its the right colour disco
Also price difference is a factor but safari also do seem to let more air in IMO just through the design, its not quite as restrictive as the southdown from the pics, did notice a sluggishness when doing 70 and trying to get to 80 compared to no snorkel and the larger area on the safari may have helped that

so all in all there not a bad snorkel then, do they replace orginial air box

No, go onto front with the pipe you see in the link you sent me, simple enough to make fit with tiger seal and some silicone pipe to mate the parts

iv got one, had no issues, if you go on a famous auction site, you can get the top and bottom for £40 then just need to get pipes into air box and steel tubing..
