Getting a tan in Q8
Well what started off as a simple wheel bearing and seal job has turned into swivels and a stub axle on the left rear. Luckily though no hubs were hurt in the making of this thread:D

Took a little colorful vocabulary and power tools but finally got it apart. Now the long wait for parts to arrive. I did get lucky enough to find a new old stock stub here in Spain for 29 euros.

:D

Just stripped my rear axle for the first time. Fortunately all came apart as it should (almost). Hole in axle case only real stumbling block!

Glad you got yours apart!!

Wasn't real bad really to tear apart. Just fought that one side for a bit. I have noticed the spanish here have a tendency not to do preventive or even very good recovery maintenance so what should be a simple job ends up requiring a bunch of new parts. When I am done though this thing will be new. :D
