Well, I decided I was going to have the freelander off my mate, but I'm getting silly insurance quotes for it!

They want more than for our Mk5 Golf GTi!!!

Originally I tried the usual online companies and confused.com, and then I tried an online special Land Rover policy quote with Lancaster and after wanting my life story along with my penis size and sexual orientation (The latter I'm NOT joking about!) they wanted £300 more than the regular car insurance companies!

Now I'm not expecting the classic £150 quotes my dad had on his series II/III, but £300 more than a performance hot hatch is taking the proverbial!

Any advice - I'm mid-30s and my gf is late 20s - no claims but my gf does have 2 minor 3 pointers, which Lancaster said was OK?

Cheers.

Strange one, I bought a new Freelander in 2001 and I was 34 and got a good insurance quote, strange you are getting higher quotes that a Golf GTI as this will be a much higher insurance group.

Did you get a quote from the company that do your Golf?

Just changed my insurance to Adrian Flux, much cheaper than anyone else by quite some margin...

Would have thought it would be illegal to ask to for your "orientation" not to mention completely irrelevant, you should have asked them which brand of bread they prefer Hovis or Warburtons as it is just relevant, then put the phone down. I would consider a letter to the company/insurance ombudsman...

Try Adrian Flux, Last years for me was £900 for my 1.8k freeby and i was only 19.

Ouch! I'm 23 and pay just over £500 fully comp for a 51 plate TD4 but that's with Direct Line. I'm hoping to go with Adrian Flux when I renew given that Direct Line doesn't cater very well for 4x4s.

Adrian Flux. I'm 26, costing me about £380 on 03 plate TD4 fully comp, that includes green lane cover too which i was impressed by.

hi

i went to the AA, found them to be the cheapest, i got a quote for my wife and i, in our 40's, fully comp for 350.00.

this is for a TD4, auto, 3 door, 2002 freelander

gary

Cheers for the advice, I went with Sureterm in the end - quote was about£250 cheaper, but there is a catch - they don't take your no-claims into consideration so you don't earn any more. This should be fine for us though, and is the same as other specialist policies I've had before. It also leaves my gf's no claims free for another car if required! ;)
