hi i know the easy way is to just replace the rear half chassis as mines like paper full of
holes,but
i am planing to totally rebuild mine from scratch using 2mm steel as i am a fully
competent
welder.
i have all the dimensions in my manual for where all the fixings go but i need to know what the dimensions are for the sides of the chassis as it changes depth as it goes over the spring hangers and into the rear
xmember
.
as i have
already
said mines
deteriorated
to bad the to take any measurements so if anyone could help with these dimensions it would be very appreciated
thank you

woodentit be easier to just get a new chassis ... shirley its a lot less faffin about ....

someones got way too much time on their hands, would it not be more fun getting a good used chassis and spending the 3-4 days it's likely to take you to build it from plate out driving the thing ?

yes it would be easier to get a different chassis but im an unemployed welder by trade . i look after my disabled son during the day so making a new half chassis from scratch is well within my capabilities and also my pocket.
the landy hasnt been on the road for 8 yrs and i brought it as a ongoing project so im no hurry,so if anyone can genuinely help thankyou

i've got a home made chasis on a series 2a that my dad build years ago, it's all made from box section i think and doesnt change dimention over the hangers, it was cheaper than buyin a new chasis then :D

dint some bloke or other make one outa stainless years ago ??? i think he owned a steel company or summatt ..... musta weighed a friggin ton ....

i can see no real reason why it needs to narrow down - i've got a late S3 rolling chassis outside if you really want the measurements - but you'll have to show me exactly where you want measuring from/to (mr huffy)

no thier aint !!! aircraft spec ali is proper strong ..... and costly aswell ...
So if yer were a good welder, and got hold of some good ally, i think ally is stronger pound for pound than steel and making it yerself would knock down the cost massively, you could probably make a stronger than normal chassis that would never rust - landy bliss!

its costly stuff tho ..... s'gotta be tested to be sold .... pwh in wigan thats the place to get it from .....
