Hi - looking for some advice.
I have a barn find series 1 I am trying to ID that has some conflicting evidence.
1. Chassis number is 1117 indicating a 1957 88 petrol.
2. Dvla say registered in 1957 but built in 1951
3. Has lights through the grill and correct front for 1951.
4. Rear tub looks like an 80.

It has been with the same owner for 25 years and is in bits as the owner dismantled to start a rebuild 10 years and then has a stroke. So, I am very confident that all the bits come from the same vehicle, not just a collection of ebay buys.

Any advice appreciated

ID has to go with the chassis. It matters little what lumps were nailed to it over the years.

At least some nob hasn’t put a modern engine in it and balloon tyres. 😳

Build date can be different to registration date. Could be ex military. Get in touch with the series 1 club they may help
Have you got a bulkhead? Chassis plate is normally on this & will help in getting the correct reg plate

Lots of landrovers originally purchased for off highway use in quarries and farmland. I’ve known people having a hard time after traces of red diesel were found in more recently registered heaps.
