My Disco 1 has a Safari snorkel fitted. I have finally got a standard airbox, but I just need everything to connect the safari snorkel to the airbox...

Anyone know if this can all be bought cheaply, or perhaps custom-manufactured?

I've been pondering and can't easily come up with anything - if anyone has any suggestions, part numbers or maybe photos of custom setups (involving Safari snorkel & std airbox), please let me know!

If it's relevant, mine's a 300Tdi with ABS.

Thanks in advance!

I think I know what you mean. It's worth ringing southdown - they do a little piece that you cut into your airbox and connect to and block off the standard intake trumpet. I realise the southdown snorkels are different but the theory should be the same. mine is a 300v8 with abs so there is some commonality- ill see if I can find pics. do you have pics of what you have?

I used a Cylinder type airbox and a piece of silcome hose from my local car parts shop to fit mine as i dont trust sealing holes up in plastic airboxes etc. Its not the neatest job ever but does the job well. Will put a pic up later on

for mine i used, Defender snorkel few bits of hosing bit of drainage pipe jubilee clips and a drill. looks and sounds great just need to seal around the hole now

I found it on ebay. Its off a dumper truck or something apparantly. I'll see if i can find a link for you. Works great through, just needed the oring that seals both halves together swapping for a couple of layres of silicone tape.

I already have a standard 300Tdi Discovery airbox... I just don't have the necessary fittings and hoses! I have phoned many scrap dealers and suppliers and I simply cannot get any Safari hoses suitable for my setup!

I have then been to AC Commercials to look at their available pipes, and none are flexible enough or the right shape... what do people do when they fit a Safari snorkel and part of it breaks? You either have to somehow fix it yourself or buy an entire brand new snorkel!

I will get a photo of my current setup shortly...

your best bet is to do something like GIb's or to get a 200tdi airbox and run some flexi - you'll struggle to find a 2nd hand safari airbox 2nd hand never mind the parts for an ABS model, I ended up buying mine new!

well i'm thinking that it can't be that hard to block off the existing air inlet on the airbox. maybe I then just need some 3 inch diameter plumbing elbows, a bit of 3 inch flexipipe (to go in a straight line between the elbows, the airbox and the snorkel), then some tiger seal to just hold the flexihose in the airbox... i'll just then need to make a bracket to move the airbox along... i can't afford a new snorkel anyway!

or buy a cylinder shaped air box off ebay, some 3 inch flexi and some tiger seal and make like blue peter  sounds a lot easier, less time consuming and cheaper

what i'm trying to say is... i hunted for quite a while for a southdowns snorkel for my ABS equipped disco with no joy... so i'd imagine that getting the individual parts would be just as hard if not harder... so it might be easier and cheaper to make one up, i'd certainly go for my above suggestion if I were to do it again!

oh and watch those safari snorkel heads... they like to get ripped off by over hanging branches! i've lost 1 to date!
