Now you see why I dont like them ! It takes about 4-5 hrs to get the body off,but this assumes a young car where all the brake pipes and hose clips etc will come undone easily - not a 10 yr old heap full of rust and cowsh-t.
You can see from the pics they use a 2 post lift then wheel the rolling chassis out from under the body.Am I glad I only have a 4 post ramp.I can see these cars getting scrapped at a very young age as it just wont be worth fixing them.A clutch job costs £1100 +vAT for parts if it needs a dual mass flywheel - nearly all do.What was the design team thinking ?

That we're all rich gits and deserve to be ripped off for buying one of their products. That we won't own the cars long enough to really worry about major work and second / third / fourth owners don't count. That if the cars are just nice to look at and ride in then when we get rid of them in 3 years we'll come back and buy another one.

Actually, reckon they do know their market then!

Well, consider the extra cost of one of those. You could fully trick out your P38 with wider arches, supercharged wheels, front end conversion, paint and a nice satnav/dvd dash job.
Thats where my money would be spent although I'm not in the market for a sport so I'll carry on fixing on a pittance of a budget.

I'd never do that. I'm one of those who likes his cars as close to original and in as nearly mint condition as he can manage. I also think the P38 is the smartest looking RR, very refined presence. I like the Classic a lot for retro cool but never got into the L322 which just looks too gangsta for me and the MY2010 has a weak chin and just looks plain inbred. The L322's interior though is a lovely place to live so I might consider perhaps a 2006 - 2009 at some point but that's about it.

Fords charge that for a mondeo clutch infact most stealers do. some indipendants around me do aswell, rip off bastids.
I lost a job a few of weeks ago to a PILLOCK who works on his drive at home, cos he under cut me by £72, Clutch and fly wheel on a tdci mondeo taxi, it was on his driveway for nearly a week, then when the owner picked it up the price had gone up by £200 LOL (i quoted £874 incl. parts and VAT)

£600 I've done one for:p including the os inboard bearing on drive shaft and duel mass flywheel.

not that bad and a subframe aligning kit and re-track a must

This really feels like they're taking the mick. Its unnecessary and its trying to coerce owners to go to dealer workshops or at least a professional garage. Makes me almost angry. How far away from the Land Rover ethos of go anywhere, fix anyhow do these monkeys want to take it I wonder.

Reckon I better take care of my P38 cos I'd rather put half a million miles on it than get one of these!
I think you'll find that they arn't classed as go anwhere off roaders any more, i think the only one that is is the fender. All the others are like the X5's big comfy flashy chelsea tractors. I would still have one but then i don't go off roading. :D

I think the plan is to offer all the electronic extra's and make it dealer coded-that way if mechanical failure doesn't get it-eletronic will.

coding items to a specific car is a **** take.

The £1100 +Vat is only for parts - from memory the book time is 12hrs.So,ad 12hrs min at around £100/hr at a main dealer and its a dear old job.(Esp when I can do a TDI clutch with all gen bits for £400 inc Vat.)

you're right of course. shame though because its what made the RR special - it was a 'proper' 4x4 in a dinner suit. if all i wanted was the suit i'd frankly not be buying land rover given the jap, german and american alternatives out there.

Personally, I'm with you. Originality looks better and sells better although I do like the look of the 19" wheels and am also in the process of aquiring parts to fit a double din dvd player in the dash although thats about as far as I will go with it.
