HI All
I tried to post in the wanted section but unable to? Anyway I want to swop out old for reasonably new. So where do I go for a decent recon bottom end or a good low mileage example...I know you lot are getting rid of them for tdi engines so they must be about!!! HELP!

Thanks to Land Raver an edit!!

Hello macdoog & welcome.

You might want to confirm what engine you're looking for ....2.25 diesel / petrol 3mb or 5mb
2.5di etc. I assume you've tried the favorite auction site :)

Turners offer some options but you'll need deep pockets

I don't think you'll find any good series motors left, I reckon they're all long worn out in one way or another. Have a look at the state of the 1984 motor I've just rebuilt, bottom end was fine but cam was nobbered, most series motors are much older than that too! Why don't you do yours, an engineering shop will only need it for a few days then you can reshell it / new pistons and know its good and sorted then.

exactly the point and case mate ..........and costs a fraction of what it would cost for a reconditioned engine :D

all i need to do with mine now is get the bleddy skew gear set up right and pray the new bush ive machined for it doesnt fail

2.25??? petrol/diesel??????????? whithams has a bunch on recons going about 150quid complete

I think you'll find they're takeouts (ie fecked old motors). Someone on ollr got one and it was a bag o ****e.

Those are new recons never used taken out of storage, whats wrong with that?? Last week they had new never used still wraped in plastic. this week they are used take outs

Worth a phone call at the least

its the same script with engines bought from the well known auction site

they look reconditioned nice clean but alass theyre on a friggin pallet and cannot be seen or heared running and more than likely have not been reconditioned

any booger can clean and repaint an engine then pass it on as reconditioned

if i was either buying or selling a recon engine you can mark my words as gospel there would be a receipt for any and evry part and bit of machining that was done

the only true way to guarrantee yer getting a recon engine is to buy a complete intact sh1tter then recon that yerself then swap it into your vehicle

you then have your old engine to do the same to then either keep that as spare or sell as reconditioned with the doccumented proof you did it and possibly recoup 75% of yer initial outlay back ;)

How is your recon doing got it running or you still walking

But the home reconditioned motor doesn't mean the noob knew what the were doing anyone can create a paper file on a
motor
