Rear Wheel Drive Problem

Hello everyone,
I was wondering can anyone help me out with my problem or maybe I am just over reacting. When I turn the steering wheel hard to either side and move forward it would appear that the rear wheels don't follow through smoothly, its as if they are rubbing or something. It is particularly noticeable when on loose ground. It had been said to me that it may have something to do with a diff or a coupling issue. Any comments greatly appreciated.

Hi

If you read some of the threads about the transmission/VCU/rear diff on this forum, you will get a good idea of how the vehicle's transmission works, what is "normal" and the likelyhood of whether you have a problem.

You've gone and got yourself confused there my friend - The Freelander doesn't have four wheel steering. This was something only fitted to high-end Jap cars in the early 90s.

If it is a VCU problem, does that entail a major parts and labour job?

I thought that was normal. When on full lock on loose ground the rear wheels drive on mine and another i've tried. Thought it was a transmission wind up or summat.

Not sure what the symptons are of VC failure - quick search on here should reveal.
