Well finally took my freelander to LR specialist yesterday to get them to look at noise getting from rear when turning on full lock at slow speeds.
Only really happens when parking or first pulling off but noise is doing my head in.
They had a look at it and said they could get it to make the noise whilst driving but not when on the ramp.
Apparently the rear diff bushes are not perfect but not enough wear to cause the knock.
They believe it may be the subframe making the noise as have had this previously.
I have been advised to keep using until noise gets worse then return and hopefully pin point the weakness in the sub-frame which could then be fixed by welding.
Anyone had this problem before? is it common?

Got to go back next week anyway now as needs two propshaft bearings.
Damn.

Cheers in advance

Its probably the rh front mount of the rear subframe - the body spot welds come undone inside the channel that the bolts go into. The LR fix was to cut out the affected section and weld in a repair section. What we do is to weld it internally after cutting open a flap inside the boot floor. Then weld the flap back down after and paint/waxoil it all.

How much does that effect the strength of the sub-frame/chassis?

The repair is fine, dout very much there is anything wrong with the subframe,I've never seen a problem with them.As long as the repair is done properly all that you are doing is putting it back to the state it should have left the factory in.
