bonjour, i took the car for a test ride , i have no rear washer or wiper, the front is ok so are the fuses,
and there's a noise at the back of the car when i'm driving, maybe wheel bearings?
thank for your help,
its the first time i'm driving a freelander and i like it

If it's a Freelander 1, then the wiper issue is most likely the rear window isn't fully up, or the CCU doesn't sense it as being up. If the window isn't up or the CCU doesn't sense it up, then the rear wiper and washer are inhibited.

Noise could be wheel bearings, rear diff or VCU bearings, again assuming it's a Freelander 1.

thanks nodge ,yes it's de freelander 1 td4 softback, must be the CCU because the window goes up and down very difficult with the key or the button, i think i'll find this behind the side trim panel? what is it , a relay or something ?

As you will have noticed, when you reconnect the battery the window goes down. This calibrates the window so that it drops the right amount when opening the door.

As Nodge says if the window is not up or the ccu doesn't know the window is up then wiper won't work. Easiest first thing to try is make sure tailgate is fully closed. Remove and reconnect battery lead, wait a few lonutes between disconnect and reconnect
Raise window fully and don't let go of switch till at the top.

Then check window drops when you operate tailgate handle and shut door and check wiper again.

And that explains the rear wiper failure too. If the CCU doesn't know that the window is fully up after it is calibrated it disables the rear wash wipe so that you don't soak the rear passengers !! Or wipe a window that isn't there!

hi, the window mechanism looks ok, the window goes up and down with the button but only cm by cm
when i open the door the window falls 2cm but when i close i have to use the key or button to put the window up, so no wiper fonction, you think its the CCU? or must i try a new window regulator?
to get the car registrated ( in France) i need a controle technique and there for i need the back wiper working,

The CCU is very unlikely to be the issue. It's more likely to be the motor, regulator or a bad connection.
Did you get the panel off the boot door to see what was happening?

Unless the wire has snapped, which it obviously isn't in this case, everything will usually look OK with the window winding mechanism.

There are various bits that can be faulty relating to the window winding that aren't part of the regulator/winding mechanism, but it looks like they are working - eg the window drops when you open the door.

It looks like the CCU is having trouble knowing where the window is, or there are possibly voltage issues. I'm in the camp that this will be resolved by replacing the regulator.

As I say, its a fairly easy job to do, as a tip, I'd say lower the window (bit by bit if necessary!) to give you easier access/visibility to the bolts holding the glass. Also, once you have it installed, be prepared to loosen the glass and shift it sideways to adjust where it sits if necessary.

bonjour i changed the whole mechanism and no difference with the old one, when i open the door it goes down 2cm
when i close- nothing and manuel cm per cm and no wiper, i check the window motor its ok- so i have a problem-
fuses are ok but no volts on the washer or wiper buttons,

Have you calibrated the window?
