Hi not long bought my range rover and rear left sat down when parked making the car look lop sided and sometimes overnight the car would drop really low and take ages to come back up on starting the engine. I had both rear air springs replaced at the weekend and the car comes up really fast and does not drop overnight yippeee. However when I park up at work ,I park on a slight incline with a slight camber on the parking space and again the left back side drops or looks like its at an angle but when I look at the wheel arch the front seems the same level as the rear and when I park on the flat the rear end sits square . Any ideas if this is normal ??

The tube for the air bag probably isn't in all the way (check it with washing up liquid and a spray ) or the end is a bit chewed up, take it out, and put it back in again, noting how far its gone in, it has to go in all the way, and it will lock in to place

I bought one of the EAS gadgets off ebay to test the EAS system thought I would wait until the air springs were fitted before I tried it to check the set up .I might plug it in this weekend to see what it says.

. . . and after you park up, switch off and leave the car at work, if you listen carefully, you can hear a clicking noise from under the bonnet. It's the automatic self levelling. Perfectly normal.

If you want to check it, and it's safe to do so, leave the car with a door or the tailgate open. This freezes the suspension so the self levelling won't operate.

:D

Cheers Dogsbody Want to make sure Ive got this right. If I park up and leave the door open and the rear passengers side does not drop then the car is ok ? Then if I close the door and it drops it is just the self leveling doing its job? I went to the garage tonight to put in LPG and again it was all lop sided at the rear .Drove home parked up in the drive and its sitting level at the back .Its doing my head in .When im driving im now thinking its dipped down at the front passengers side I think im now getting paranoid

The vehicle self levels at regular intervals....but it won't do it while your foot is on the brake and the vehicle is stationary (but wait 3 minutes and it will)

Also at night self leveling will take place every 5-6 hours, and each time the doors or tailgate is opened then closed.....

Aslong as it doesn't sag with a door open, the springs and interconnecting pipes are fine.

I think you are starting to get paranoid....just enjoy the ride...you will soon know when it is on the bumps....

I did the check tonight when i got home I switched the engine off and listened for the self leveling click and it happend just as dogsbody said. The car is sitting level at the back , I went back and checked a few hours later and it is still level however again at work today it was sitting lop sided. I got my mate to have a look and both arches on the drivers side are higher than the passengers side by about 2 inches. This is wierd sits level in by drive which is flat but sits all lop sided at work on a little slope.

Mine does this Gazza62 as my drive is on a slope and angled to the side. to stop it playing silly buggers with the self leveling I drop it to access mode eveytime I park... helps the missus to as she's only a wee thing!

As for the paranoia, thats just part of the range rover owning experience... I mean reliability is just so dam dull!
