Stripping them of homes is bull**** for the media. Local government has a statutory duty to house them, so they will just move them round the corner.

the riotors could move the car but he couldnt.Id floored it and taken some of the ****ers out.Old bill started doing since getting them nice blue riot vans.my unkle was driveing home in his p38 dse when he ended up in the croydon riots he could not move. people started smashing the windows then draged him out...... and the car then whent scheeming off up the road. hes a big blokebut theres nothing he could do but walk home..

I have it in writing from the DHSS, for medical treament in the UK I need an EHIC card if I'm visiting and if I return to live it's 6 months before I'm entitled to free medical treatment. As an illegal immigrant I would get treatment straight away not to mention benefits
Of course as the NHS has no proper acounting or invoicing system in place they often make no attempt to charge.
Ok Keith if that's what they say. But the rules for recieving DLA for instance are that if you're a British citizen and you come back from anywhere other than Europe you have to wait 26 weeks before you can claim. If you have been living within the EU or Switzerland for six months out of the last twelve the waiting time is waived and you can claim straight away. Anyone, who does not need to be a British citizen but has a right to live here, (granted residency to live with members of their family who are British citizens), and have taken them in and provided a roof for them. And are not subject to visa stay restrictions can also claim it after 26 weeks. There is no need to have paid anything into the system prior to the claim. It is a loophole that needs closing. Think the present government are on with it slowly. Can't see why the rules for NHS treatment are different than for DLA benifits.

Pretty sure Datatek is right (pun intended).. about NHS rules. EHIC needed if out of UK system for 6months. (EC residents). But many doctors receptionists etc will not check eligibility if confronted by "white anglo saxons" speaking good English, and daren`t challenge others! Think the rules are there but not always used.
Any of you visiting French hospitals will have to produce your EHIC and passport pretty soon on in the system. (you won`t be left bleeding in the gutter, tho!). Dunno what checks are in the current U NHS system before or after treatment, here you`ll get excellent treatment, but only after talking to people in the front/cash office.
And storm99 makes a good point about good local councillors etc becoming crap party toadies in Westminster. And David Owen`s book about Bush/Blair "The Hubris Syndrome", seems to sum a lot of it up.
Take houses/benefits from rioters? As Datatek says seems a good idea.... for about 3seconds.... but will only breed a dissatisfied mob with nowt to loose! Putting the kids of bad parents onto sink estates is only doubling up future troubles. No easy answers out there, but knee jerk reactions to apease the Murdoch press is no way to go.

And don`t believe all you read in the press about incomers getting freebies straight away. I think we all know, or should, that many papers are there to push the ambitions of their owners, and make money from sensationalism, not tell the truth. Don`t let yourself be sucked in by `em!

There are a fair number of pleasant hardworking immigrants in the UK, trouble is there are also uncounted thousands of scum buckets fleeing their own countries who head to the UK just for the benefits. There are also significant numbers of indigineous whites that have, with the encouragment of the succesive governments, been brought up aware only of their so called rights but with no awareness of responsibilty, that have never known discipline or self control, or the benefits being raised in a 2 parent heterosexual family.

Datatek, Until we have a system when people have to take an exam before having a license to have children, kids are gonna be born to bad parents. They won`t be taught right from wrong. I don`t think our society would wear licensing yet. So we need the state to take a greater part in educating the young. Yeah call it a Nanny State if you want.
Those fleeing oppression should be given help here for themselves, and to re-enter their own countries when safe, as many of them want too.
There are some who come here for freebies I`m sure, but not as many as much of the press would have us believe. Murdoch et al have their own agenda.
