hi all,

just joined the forum and tring to find out if anybody out there has had the same troubles as me.

when the range is cold and short journeys 5 miles can runs spot on no faults

but when i drive on motorways 70mph and engine is warm the car has minor surging not out of control or anything crazy like that it is just anoying, the drive is not smooth if i do 80mph the minor surging goes away, when i come to go up a hill on the motorway the surging starts again,

once off the motorway and the car is warm if iam stationary at traffic light with the car in drive with the footbrake on the car surges again if i drive round town, when i stop the car, the surging will start again

but next morning all cold the car drives fine???? (until i go on the motorway)

i have checked all levels and they are all ok (atf oil etc..)

the car is a range p38 hse 1995 128k on clock with fsh,

any help would be great, before i book it into landrover.

thanks in advance

marc.

The problem seems to be a fuelling one. it sounds like when your engine gets to a certain rpm the fuelling is interrupted. you need to get to a garage so they can get it on a computer to track the problem

Hi Marc,
I have a '96 2.5DSE and experience a similar problem. At about 60-70mph the rev counter (and engine) surges slightly, regardless of whether cruise control is engaged or not. If i accelerate then the surging stops and it only seems to occur at around that speed. I don't have any problems around town. Someone I spoke to thought it might be the torque convertor, but I haven't had it properly investigated yet.

Hi have you checked all vacuum pipes as this will make it surge also the stepper motor on the left hand rear of phlenum chamber could be sooted up as this also controls fuel at cold start and warm running try these 1st,tiga
