Last week the RR started to make a whirring noise so turned around and headed for home, as i did it started to get louder and a knocking noise also started (also you could feel it under foot )

So we put her on jacks and run at 30 mph clunking coming from rear diff location.

So defo new diff needed ?

Any help appreciated

Sorry should of said , i had a look at the universal joints and pumped some grease in
But how can you tell if they are failing ?
universal joint was my guess to the knocking noise

Scotch a rear wheel and lift the other, one get under and check for movement in the UJs.

Scotch a rear wheel , i take it as to wedge/ jam it ? i have not heard that one in a long time :D

If you lift a rear wheel you lose the hand brake. Unless you want tyre prints across your chest scotch the other rear wheel front and back. A couple of bricks will do it. Or you could use the scotches from the jacking kit. :);)

Get someone to rock the lifted wheel and put your hand on the joints you will feel play before you can see it.
