Morning all,

Last time I was looking for engine problems and the help I got was wicked. Engines running alright and she’s pretty sweet now.

Now onto the new (“pre existing but ignored”) issues. I have a lot of noise coming from the back of the car I think in the rear diff. Having the wheels aligned at Keil Fit and the guys helpfully checked it and it seems that the prop shaft bearings are in good Nick. I’m getting a shake at higher speeds and a noise like it’s under load pulling a big ol trailer. Sort a grinding mechanical noise. Could this be as simple as replacing the rear diff oil (something that probably hasn’t been done in its 180,000 life) or the rear diff mounts.

Anyone with similar experience with noise please chime in as looking through the forum no one has a noise quite like mine, a sorely deserved accolade I’m sure.
Tyres are all in good Nick but do have a different set from and back, I know this can cause bodies and issues but really this much?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much, Phil

Rear diff wear only happens due to incorrect tyres or a failed VCU, or even both.
Noise from under the car is often the VCU support bearings on the way out.
