Hi everyone …. Really hope someone can help …. I have rr sport sdv6 2012 …. Started getting a clunking noise from the rear ….. but this only happens when I’ve been parked up for several hours ……. When I drive 500 yards up the road it completely disappears for the rest of the journey….. and then for the rest of the day nothing …. Hoping someone could really shed some light on this …. I’ve had the sway bar bushes replaced and drop links …. Then had both lower rear control arms replaced…..also had rear diff oil replaced … only ever happens when parked up for several hours ….. but rides as sweet as a nut after 500 yards approx of the irritable few clunks

I hate to scaremonger BUT Ihad a similar issue, not so long ago. My issue could've killed me or someone else. The bolt on , can't remember if it was arm or link wasn't tightened properly. It sheared off, hitting the brake carrier on it's journey. As it hit certain points there was a clunk, especially as it dislodged from it's cosy spot if it had been sat for a while.
I was heading back over the road through glens and valleys to have it looked at, when the part that was broken went on a journey and I ended up with no brakes, right at the only T-jct on journey! Thankfully it was winter and not so many idiot tourists on the roads.

There a good few moving parts under there and I'd have it checked asap. 🤔😉

Thanks for the replies folks ….. got it booked in at a land rover specialist this morning….. will post the out come as soon as I get the phone call from the garage

Well had it back ….. and it turns out 2 exhaust rubbers were off their brackets and the harmonic swinging weights were swinging a little too excessive and hitting the body ….. so the guys have put 2 chocks in there …. To stop them swinging so much … so hopefully this will cure the clunking……. Will keep you posted …. Thanx guys and gals
