Tyres sound a bit small to me which will lower the gearing.

I have a 1987 Ninety 200tdi conversion, I can push it up to 70 if needed but it's happier sitting at 50/55. Before the 1.22 transfer box I wouldn't dare take it above 50 for fear of killing the engine.
