nice work, i cant see how you coped with the brake vacuum issue.
i work with these engines, and thinking about buying a full bus for the parts i need.

I used a LRB381 Transit alternator with a vacuum pump attached, works reasonably well but still trying to work out the reason for my poor brakes, probably the 37" tall tyres though haha

Id recommend a complete Daf 45 bud as they are cheap, the engine and boxes are vertically mounted to start with.

Bloody heck, if I could find a 6BT over here, I'd be tempted...........

You must be near the Cheetah reserve ?

Why not use a 3ltr BMW TD , the bits to fit to your transmission would be available with the 2.8 petrol having been a common build in ZA ?

Well, the conversion into the 101 is under way! Holding you and the BPO totally responsible for this Steig's!! As the engine sits further back in the 101, the rear prop is going to be really short! It's caused a bit of interest on the AULRO forum for sure! Think I've got my head around the conversion plate.. Engine arrived from the UK.. All good. Spent a sat morning checking it over, sump off, inlet check etc, changed the oils and filters, gave it some fuel and away it went first turn! Had the neighbours around in seconds wondering what the noise was! Love it!!!! The linkage for the truck should work a treat in the 101. Now on the lookout for an exhaust brake. Here's a pic of the test run!

Here's a pic of the plate... Hole drilling time. Have gone with a piece of 25mm which now has a large hole in the middle of it to allow the ZF output housing to protrude. This will be shaved so the seal face ends up flush with the new plate. I'm having to close couple the LT230 as room is an issue!

If you are going to be shortening the prop on the 101 best try and lower the output from the 230 , as 101 tend to be bad on vibration with the standard prop if not loaded The ambulance versions were smoother due to their weight . HTSH

Cracking project, our Optare buses with 177bhp ISB's shift well so a 200bhp B series in something that weighs a quarter of what they weigh should be mental :smokin:

a old pic of mine, this was at first install to test transmission before tidying up

Nice ! I love 101's :)

Moving to Australia on Monday but I'm in Shepparton Victoria, so of I'm ever around your way I'll have to come and admire :)

the sump is reversable:D I have the part number for the rear oil pick up pipe at home somewhere, I'll post it when I get home

part number for rear pickup pipe is 392199200

Thanks for that pressbrake! Was just talking about this on Bookface with Nick and Ash. Obviously didn't look that hard at my sump, but could have sworn it'd only fit one way! Will pick up a 'pick up' pipe.

Re build thread, yeah, I should start one. Once I've collected the bits and make a start I'll get one underway. Might get back to the Ser 2 Tdi once that's done! SWIMBO not happy!!:(

200tdi ayre, you should look up AULRO.com, the Australian version of Landyzone. There are quite a few members around Shepparton and Melbourne. I'm Sitec on there too. If you get time, sign up. You'd be surprised how many of Solihull's finest are near to you!!

Cheers for now. Off on a road trip to collect fire trucks from NSW!

I hate these threads - they give me ideas that my wallet can't cope with, nor my space or time availability. Bl••dy awesome though! Both the purple one and the 101. Go lads, go! :D
