prop or uj nuts?!!

Anyone remember me on about fitting a new prop t"other week? Well ordered a new prop off ebay came without nuts(9/16) so set about trying to get some from local shop and thats where fun began... Landys been off the road ie parked up for close on 2 weeks cos no one stocks these nuts or TWICE theyve sent me the wrong ones!! I actually feel like throwing the f***ing computer im that annoyed! Local hardware shop i tried ordering them from i even took the old ones in to show them!!

Im f***ing fuming and cant go fer a pint cos im brassic too!!!!

they are 3/8 unf nylocs

9/16 are what i took off the guy in the shop had ordered 3/8

9/16 are the spanner size not thread size as are sold in they are 3/8 unf in the same way an 8mm nut has a spanner sizeof 13mm and 10mm nut has spanner size of 17mm etc

Yeah James i see what you mean but i would have thought the fact i had shown one shop the actual old nut and told the online place the spanner size i may have gotten lucky.

As it is i now have 16 nuts none of which are in the correct size!

you would be lucky to find someone who understands thread and spanner size in parts shop nowadays,so you will end up with 9/16 thread instead,if you get stuck nick a couple of diff there the same size,on from each side

he could have gone to websters in platt bridge near the lights, they do all English sizes and are dirt cheap. i fot a few unf and unc for a job yesterday

Dont suppose this Websters is open Sundays Geggs? Aint got anymore yet

Would have been easier to order them off a landy spares site on interweb.

I must have been lucky, popped down to my local landy specialist and got 8 nuts for a £1 donation in the charity box

I assume you aren't near any Land Rover Part suppliers?

If you are really struggling give Paddocks or Land Rover parts, spares & repairs, servicing and online ordering. Tonks4x4. a call on Monday. They both have them in stock likewise any other Land Rover Parts Suppliers

I was under the impression that they are "special" bolts and they aren't typical "off the hardware shop's shelf" type of bolt.

steve parker,whitworth rochdale. buckley bros darwin. chatfields manchester [same bolts on rear wheel drive ldv 200 series.]or any good engineers suppliers not just car spares place cos most of em are clueless.how many do you need were they all tatered when you took it off or just a few
