'Ad a tug from the friendly local constabulary yesterday, as he 'thought' he saw a brake light out

Anyhows, he's gone over her wiv a fine toof comb, and says there are too many sharp edges, and these are a danger to pedestrians and a mot failure. He was referring to the camel cuts and front bumper in particular, which to be fair are a little on the sharp side, though if you get hit by 2 ton of landy I reckon these are the least ov ya worries. :5bangelsad2:

Has anyone else come across this, and any recommendations for neatening it up a bit? I'm thinking old car trim maybe for bumper, and aluminium plate formed to shape and pop rivetted on for camel cuts, but anyone done anything better?

For sharp edges a quick and easy fix is to get some small diameter rubber tube cut to length then split it open, dob in some silicone and push fit over the sharp edge. Job done.

The other option is to get a pair of pliers/mole grips or the like and gently make a small fold all the way around the sharp edge. The only problem here can be distortion especially if the sharp edge is curved (like a wheel arch), so a couple of small relieving cuts might be needed if you want a neat finish. Hope that helps ya.

Cheers Kev, rubber tube be ok for bumper I reckon, not sure about making folds in rear arch, as won't it put it out of line wiv the existing and look a bit odd? I stand to be corrected though....

Shouldn't do. You may have misunderstood what I was aiming at. The fold on the bodywork is made inward, effectively rolling the rough edge back on itself inside the arch, the same way as they do for the original. It will not be as neat but it will be sufficient. If you wanted a better finish you could always try using a suitable hammer and dolly and actually beat the metal into shape.

Does duct tape still work with this???
Back in the day many a time i've gopt cars through MOT's with that stuff!!! Mainly rusty arches.
