Hi lads,
Need some wiring info, have a hdc light on that seems to be linked to first gear switch that is in situ but no wiring loom, have open the loom whole way back to ecm or ecu under black cover and can't see any cut or spare wires. If I disconnect reverse switch veering works as should. Has any one a wiring /color code for wiring loom? Or know a reason why it wouldn't be there? It's a 2005 1.8 petrol

Thanks in advance

Not sure I understand the question !
First gear switch is giving me a hdc waring light on dash.
The switch is in/on gearbox along with reverse switch
There is no wiring to the first gear switch, it's none exsitant
The question is: if I was to make a new loom, where would it go back too?
Or can anyone tell me what color the wires to the 1st gear switch would be and where would they come from

The switch needs a ground and a connection to the instrument pack

Download RAVE and get the wiring diagrams from there for your car

I think Iv sorted it but I don't know what iv done if I'm honest. Took and feed from thermostatic monitor switch that was right color combo for 1st gear switch, had the right connection and length of loom to reach switch and now the waring light gone from dash and hdc works

That's wher I got the 1st gear switch wire from.
What have I taken from??

I know the front sensor is coolant temp but what is the bottom one that I took the connection from?

It's probably had an engine change, being fitted with an engine that is earlier than your vehicle. The later engine only had one coolant sensor, but the early engine had 2. The blue sensor is for the dash gauge, but this is done via the CAN bus on the later cars.

Groovy - I was just thinking this chap may have a different gearbox or something from a model without HDC....

Am I getting confused but is ther etwo threads about the same thing from the same person - AS I am sure I have just been reading about the exact some thing a moment ago....

Ye sorry that's me . My bad
Seems I still havnt got it sorted hdc will on stay solid if in reverse, flashes in every other gear, but warning is gone in normal driving.
Does that mean 1st gear switch is shot

Wait - riddle me this.....Did you say you had wired the HDC system into the coolant temp sensor wiring?

This is the HDC wiring....

This is the MEMS engine wiring....

And this is for the cooling system....

And this is for the instrument pack....

So how come?

Ye baffled my head all day.....
What it seems to be is that I have a old engine with the two coolant sensors, one for gauge and one for ecu
But I have a new wiring loom with just one sensor connect for coolant temp shown here with two pink lines
So who ever changed engine put the first gear switch onto the old temprature sensor .. Duh
That's why I could find it, as u can see from diagram it's black and green with black tracer which was on temp sensor
Now I think 1st gear switch is fooked

Just shorted the first gear switch cable with paper clip and hdc stays solid when engaged which from what I can gather is correct and throws amber when in reverse because 1st gear switch is engaged with reverse switch which was the problem I was having in first place ....
New switch it is so, I love these freelander never a dull moment:D
