hi, PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY PROBLEM
i went out to my car this morning and pressed my keyfob button to unlock the car and absolutely NOTHING happened! i pressed it again + again still nothing. the little red light on key fob kept lightin up and no action from car. i unlocked drivers door with key then opened door and turned off alarm that was now going!! couldn't unlock any other doors even from inside or anything. could still start car but needed to open back two doors to get my 2 kids in!! so stood in driveway having a stress instead as i was trying to get my 2 year old to nursery!!!! looked in manual and nothing is really helping me. my partner has tried as well and all we keep doing is setting the alarm off!! the neighbours have loved me today!
Please can anyone help me in anyway as i really have no idea whats up with it and i'm sure it will cost me a fortune if i end up having to take it to garage!! PLEASE HELP ME! i've got a 2001 Y reg discovery ES model! thanks JO

oh sorry i'll try and find the right section!! oh and i forgot to mention that i have changed the battery in the key fob!!!

From experience on a skoda and these key fob things,
I too changed the battery myself. This cleared the memory
of the key and I needed to go to a skoda garage with the spare
key to get it reprogrammed. There are 'hacks' out there which
keep the key supplied with power whilst you change the battery
but it seems like a lot of fiddling. Best call up your local garage
and see what they say.
You should still be able to get the doors open the old school way
and use the key. If this doesn't work then there might be an issue
with the central locking mechanism......
sorry cant be of more help.

If its similar to the rover 75 which is possible being rover then you'll need the red programming ignition key to teach the alarm module the new keyfob, or the old keyfob with a new battery same thing.
If you havent got this then its expensive.
At that year I'd be thinking of removing the security system, I've never liked the idea of it affecting reliability of the car, but that allthough the parts are cheap would be expensive as you have to dissassemble most of the interior to do it.

You have bought the wrong type of Land-Rover, get one that just uses keys to open the doors
