Hello all.
Are going to by new shock's all around. just driving on "ordinary" roads.
Can get OEM at FF for £35 a piece, Monroes at £32, while J. Craddoks can offer "no name" shocks for £18.50 a piece. (+VAT)
Anybody who has any experience with the Craddok shocks? What manufacture are they?

I want just ordinary shocks, no heavy duty or super shocks.

When I bought my p38 it came with 4 new Britpart shocks and steering damper ,well I am not a fan of Britpart but they was there so I put them on. That was a year ago I have done a few thousand miles on road and a few hundred on green lanes and much to my amazement they have been great .

When my dampers came up for renewal I went with Terrafirma purely because they looked fancy. That was 50k miles ago and they are superb. Much nicer than the tired units I replaced, but I imagine I'd have enjoyed OEM just as much. I wouldn't use no name parts on something this heavy, worth paying the little extra.

Tried Terrafirma but they were terribly firm. Tried Britpart, snapped! Originals are great. Not expensive either.
Also have the AT terrafirma on mine - wouldn't use them again either. I also found the stud is to short on the lower mount - making it difficult to insert rubber dampers.

I don't think that ride is bad. Better than the old ones were 160k miles old so I had no real basis for comparison. When they come up for renewal I might go back to OEM. If such a thing exists then, LR (according to the many from LR I spoke to at work) are only making parts for 15 years after they left production. So parts will be harder to get after next year.

I think that decision has been reversed.

I only spoke with the chap this year, so if it has it must've happened recently. I was being cheeky and trying to see if they had any parts at the factory I could mooch as I thought they stopped making parts at the EU forced 10 year mark (damn EU, forcing **** laws on the UK).

Someone on here was saying the other day that they are doing limited run of stuff for P38s because there are more of them still on the road than they thought ... and might screw us all for a few more quid yet.

Well since they don't have to make any parts, something is better than nothing. The P38 does seem to be the forgotten Land Rover though. :/

Why don't you try Ebay as I got a full set of Terrafirma for a £129.95, and my car is only road use as well up to now they seem ok. Only taken mine across a few fields and all is well with them.

Iv just fitted a set of yellow poly bushes( britpart) to my dads 4.0 p38 and some britpart cellular dampers and it's not much different to standard, and the handling is more sharp too, I quite like it! Everyone slates britpart and yea some stuff is crap, but the bushes and shocks seem okay!

Mine had Britpart dampers on the front when I got it. Damn things snapped! Not tried the bushes. I know the bush set you're on about though. I was tempted but then I decided to just change the bushes bit by bit using the original rubber ones.

Ahhh, well I will see, haha, lol, or my dad will, but seems all good at the moment, the bush set is good I think, and easy to fit too! But I think britpart have Had to clean up their act abit as they have gotten a bad name before and the stuff does seem to be getting slightly better! Still not great but better!

Mine is used off-road so not entirely normal road conditions. If he sticks to Tarmac they'll probably be OK.
