Ok i now have another little prolem :)

When i press the brake pedal the TC & handbrake light come on for a split second then go out. I haven't noticed any issues with breaking at all, it is only for a split second when i press the pedal.

Any ideas why it is doing this?

Cheers
Phil

Could indicate a lack of brake system pressure - best get it on a diagnostic device and see if the WABCO system is logging any faults.

Never fook around with the braking system on a P38, as it uses a hydraulic booster pump, if it fails, the effort required from the driver to stop the vehicle is quite considerable...

My Classic boost pump failed, and I had to stand on the brake pedal, pull on the Steering wheel (and I weigh 23 stone), before it would even think about stopping let alone stop....luckily I was in a parking space and only pulling forward slowly when it happened....so quickly into reverse back into the space and let the kerb behind me stop me.

Never scrimp and save on the brakes or steering on these things.

I a moment of sheer panic, with my beloved Rangie headed towards the brick wall in front, I never even thought of it....

Hindsight is always 20/20....especially when the Girlfriend keeps ribbing me about it, as I went white as a ghost, and panicked a bit as I am usually unflappable, and profess my general calm and greatness on others....this was not a great moment for me and she has never let me forget it since....!!!!

sounds like i need to get the electronic brain read for codes, cheers guys.

in the mean time i'll throw an anchor and parachute in the boot.........lol :).

Once i know i'll update here

can anyone reccomend anyone on the wirral / merseyside who can read the codes. Don't just want to take it to any garage?

If you here your brake pump running after every press of the pedal, you need to change your brake accumulator.its the black ball shaped device on top of the pump, island 4x4 seem to be the cheapest.easy to change, just remember to depressurise the system first.

Hi Dove,

That is exactly what i hear, i'll get one and change it as well as a brake fluid change.

Cheers

Just and update, i have now replaced the acumulator and bleeded all the brakes and wow what a difference. Pedal right at the top and its always there, also no lights when i press the pedal. Cheers again for all the advice guys
