Evening all,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction - the brake warning light has come on on the dash of my 1990 Defender 110 - I've checked the handbrake, that's working fine, and I've checked the brake fluid levels, they all seem fine.

Any other typical issues that might cause this?

TIA.

On a bracket bolted to the bulkhead above the brake pedal, when you push on the brake pedal the plunger is released making a circuit and the brake lights come on.
If the switch faulty your brake warning light can come on.

Lovely job - thanks - I'll give that a look and report back

The handbrake switch/light is on the handbrake lever under the rubber cover.
It has 1 wire going to it.
The switch is normally closed (N/C) and when you pull up the handbrake the button pops out and the light comes on.

Sometimes the wire falls off and touches the handbrake bracket, sometimes if chaffes through as it goes under the seatbox and up towards the dash under the tunnel and in the engine dept.

Update on this - it seemed to sort itself out - I wonder if the "ballcock" for the fluid level was stuck - it had the brakes fiddled with for the MOT and the levels topped up - feasibly something was stuck - land rovers eh
