Hi to all,

Im on my second P38 but just encountered my biggest problem and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

It wouldnt unlock with the Fob so the teenage son used the key.
Long familiar story later..
New Battery in car.
New Batteries in Fob.
I've bought a Becm syncmate.
I have the EKA code and understand the sequence but I think the Lock may be faulty as it appears very loose, so my BIG Question is can I enter the EKA code another way or do I need to repair the door lock first?? Anybody been in this position before? Dash display says turn off alarm.
Any help V.much appreciated. Thanks.

I think if it has been locked with the fob it needs to be unlocked with the fob to remove it from its alarmed state.Persevere with the fob,i think the batteries need to be turned in a particular way.May be wrong.
 
EKA is year sensitive. mine is a 95. I input it as per the rave info, starting with the 4 left turns but no good. The rave info relates to 96> with the addition of the 4left turns to start the procedure.
I then tried the eka input starting with Xturns to the right then y to the left etc as per the eka. I was amazed when it worked on completing the sequence when the red led on the dash quenched

I dont think the sync has been lost.It sounds like the car is still alarmed after being locked with the fob.Unlocking with the key will not disable the alarm,only the fob will do that,as it has been locked with the fob.I think?

Thanks guys.....so far!

In the morning when the sun shines on the bonny banks the heid will be under the bunnet...again! New batts in everything and a clear head.

Once more unto the breach....keep it comin ..more info the better.:)

What year is your car? If it is locked with fob it must be opened with it. If opened with key after fob locking it will automatically cause alarm state. Mozz Smith is the man for EKA stuff. PM him.

Any other way to get the EKA code in other than by key itself? As I think my problem lies within the lock...it feels as though its disconnected.

You left them dangling from Keiths scrot on Wednesdays shoot for 'Datatek gets Dirty for the Wammers Hammer #7' I was taping using my new Sony HDTV 60fps Handycam....don't you remember - you said its so small we could start doing internal shots and break into a whole new genre...!!
 
Get the drivers door card off, check the integrity of the lock mechanisn.
You can remove the mechanism, strip it down, clean it up & before you replace it back into the door, connect the lock mechanism loom & manipulate it by hand. You'll see signs if it's working ok. Replace, try & resync your fob, failing that you can retry the eka procedure.
 
Just be careful when removing lock and disconect the rod from key barrel to lock gently or the lug that holds it will snap - sounds as though this may have been done for you :eek:

If the little lug has been snapped off you need to order a new one with you VIN number to ensure your key fits it. Surprisingly they are fairly cheap (£35). I ordered one from Rimmers. You should be able to manipulate the microswitch with the door card off although it may be very fiddley.
 
Thanks guys for all that info. Would the nanocom solve this? Would I just plug it in and Biff Baff Boff start and go??

Update. Doorcard off. Looks like the end of the barrell lock has broken/fallen off and is just danglin'. I've stuck a really small cable tie around it to hold it towards the lock so that when the lock turns it lifts the rod (thats attached to it) up and down and hopefully that will allow the EKA to be entered!!!

and if this all works then the Coffee is on me. 1 lump or 2?
