So as some of you are aware recently purchased a p38, was locking and unlocking on the remote and key no problem,

Today has a look at what was up with the drivers outer handle and it had come out of the plastic spring bit because the little nub had wore away so had been getting in via the passenger seat and climbing over the centre console, inner handle works fine. Ordered a replacement handle earlier today

been in and out of it since then no problem like i say just have to get in via passenger seat.

Pop to McDonalds tonight lock it on the fob come out and it wont unlock notice the lights aren't working on the fob so think has the battery gone dead immediately. key works in the drivers door but for some reason wasn't doing the central locking and because no drivers door handle was in a bit of pickle try the boot release button and for some reason that still works so climb in through the boot which obviously annoys the alarm but since sounder doesn't work its just flashing anyway.

Key in the ignition and engine disabled. Which I thought was odd as @kermit_rr mentioned immobiliser and eka had been switched off. Try the eka in drivers door and nothing no messages on the dash to even indicate its registering anything..

Plug the Nanocom in and while it refused to go into diagnostic mode it was saying eka and immobiliser enabled tried disabling but obviously wouldn't work with it not going into diagnostic mode. eventually found the section on nanocom to type the eka code in did that and it instantly unlocked everything central locking worked again including off the key in door. Engine started so I thought I would go in and see if I can now disable it so turn the nanocom off unplug it and plug it back in but it wont come back on thought I haven't got time to mess around incase I'm gonna get fined for being on the car park so head back home.

Check odb fuse under bonnet and it had blown so replaced it and nanocom works again and goes into diagnostic mode, this time it does indeed say immobiliser is already disabled however it says eka is still enabled so disable that and write it, restart the nanocom and it correctly shows disabled.

Any thoughts on what could have caused this palava in the first place? given that immobiliser should have been off in the first place and once I got it to work off the eka via nanocom it not only did say it was disabled I tested it and it did work off the spare key I have which has no electric gubbins to it just one of them thats designed to unlock the car and nothing more.

As for why the fob stopped working in the middle of all this i noticed the battery door was sticking out a bit so it seems it had twisted loose in my pocket and by the time i realised that issue it had obviously already lost the memory. So I gotta plug the antenna back in now to resync the fob.

Two threads on the same subject. If you locked with the FOB but did not unlock with the FOB then it's doing what it was deigned to do. A lock/unlock cycle with the FOB will clear the problem. Equally, if EKA and immobiliser are turned off, a lock/unlock cycle with the key will clear the problem but only if the drivers door lock micro switches are OK.
