I have trouble driving manuals since having a stroke in October as I have little no feeling in my left foot. After ashcroft jumped up and down on my debit card when they rebuilt my drive train I'm a little loathed to change it all now.
I'm no Lewis Hamilton and if I want fast we are fortunate enough to own an E46 M3 and a mk2 Golf Gti with a 400hp 20vt conversion so the P38 is my plod about daily and I'm loving the change of pace hugely.

If you're used to driving something a little more racy you really do seem to adapt your driving style to suit. I'm so laissez-faire in the Rangie. Astra GTE and it is balls-out.

The M and the Golf get death but the rangie just doesn't have it there so there's absolutely no point, plus she who must be obeyed from the dept of war and annoyances has decreed a slower pace of life.
The Golf and M will be for sold/traded for something more suited to our enforced slower pace.

Sounds exactly like the probs I've been having with mine Guy. Looks like we've both got same car, mines a 97 turbo diesel I've spent bloody ages looking for a non existent MAF sensor.

Found it !

This made it easy...

it was yucky.

Really yucky!

But a nice little clean and application of brake cleaner and it's made a healthy difference, not amazing but the combination has definitely helped the pick up.
Would the temperature sensor have any bearing on the thermostat operation? Reason I'm asking is mine overheats under load but temp stays slightly cooler when idling

I've just bought a new thermostat which I'm going to fit this weekend hopefully see if that cures it. The lack of power I originally thought was the brakes binding as it shows abs fault on start up as brake pedal is rock hard underfoot. I put a new abs relay in the fusebox but the fault still shows up.

You might want to check the water pump has been swapped for one with the metal impeller. The plastic ones have been known to fail.
