wouldnt know where to start with stuff like airbags and what have ya - if they write it off, I dont wanna see it again!

If they do write it off, I would interested to see what the insurance company offer in terms of a replacement though - I have "new for old" so will that mean they have to supply a Freelander 2??

Yeah I am fine thanks - testament to Land Rover build quality I guess. I always thought whiplash was a b/s condition bought about by people who want to bump up insurance claims but the way my back & neck feels now tells a different story!

Yeah i know what u mean but i get to see the X-rays of whiplash quite a bit! I'm a 3rd year Student Radiographer!

I bet there is some very very small print which states New for Old on a current model range only.

They will offer market value or a replacement vehicle of similair age mileage etc.

You wont get a Freelander 2

What is it they say '' You only find out how good or bad your insurance company is when you make a claim''

Quote: To be fair, the seat belt tensioners and the air bags did their job but my left leg belted the gear lever so hard that it has snapped off down in the gaitor. The silver alloy bar which runs across the front appears to be attached to what i assume are the chassis legs - both of these are bent.

You're well ard! how can you sit there discussing write off status when you've done this to your leg. Good job you were wearing gaitors or it might never have been found.

Did they sew it back on?

Joking apart glad your OK just shows how good the Hippo is in this situation.

Someone backed into my old MGF at about 5-10 MPH. Wrecked bumper and a light/number plate./indicator. According to the repair place/insurance it came to £1350. Unbelivable really, I should have reversed out of the way, but I was in shock that she just kept coming whilst I sat in traffic like a rabbit in headlights!

I was with Privledge insurance, can't fault them - fought my corner and got me a hire car for 3 weeks. I had a friend that got a 1 year free insurance deal from Citroen (under written by Uk insurance i believe) now that was a totally differnet story.

They have taken over the firm of tool makers and using Landrover engineering rebranded it "Snap Off"

Hey Sirus - just noticed you are in Stourbridge too - small world!!!

Well the news on the Freelander is that the danage is up to approx 10k. - apparently they are not writing cars off at the moment due to the unusually high amount of cars being written off due to the floods. I have been to the body shop and they have been through it with me and shown me what is damaged and what isn't - I have to say I feel a lot happier now on that score.

The bit that is getting me is the amount of time it is going to take to get the motor back on the road - they told me that Land Rover are notoriously bad for either not stocking parts or sending the wrong ones. When pushed on a date they said 'a number of weeks', when pushed further they said, probably about ten weeks!! - oh well at least that keeps the mileage down I guess, I have already put 21/2k. miles on the Mondeo that they have lent me.

The guy on the truck that hot me is now claiming that the accident was not his fault - I fail to see how, I was turning right on an island and he carried straight on, he seems to thing that because some of the damage is to the rear side of his wagon he can deny responsiblity!! Oh well, time will tell!

if your insurance company write it off then it will be a cat a/b/c write off, if you dont claim and repair it yerself then it wont go on the cat register cos no one will know ;)
yer sound all clever yella . . . .mhm mans bin liyin bout yer :p
