One for all those Veggies out there

Hi guys

Any one who's running veg oil in small batches of course will encounter the same problem as me I'm sure.

My question is this... How on earth do you get in in the tank haha

Tipping it in from a 5 gallon drum using a 2lt pop bottle sawn off at the top is getting a bit tiresome especially in this weather.

been told about rotary hand pumps but I'm dubious of the old "25L per minute" claim

One of these. Put wheelie bin next to car. Put drum on bin. Get this going and let the veggie put itself in.

still takes ages letting gravity pull it out. want a quick way so i can stop putting off refuelling ha its becoming a laborious task

Have kids and make them do it. Or at least gaffer tape Ya coke bottle to the landy.

What about a 12V fuel transfer pump?

I run bio, and have always used cans. When I get sorted, I'll use a pump and nozzle, like petrol stations.

PS. I have a rotary hand pump. They're not bad. 25lpm probably isn't far off.

Simple anti "glug" cap - some enterprising souls were doing them on ebay, but basically a couple of tank connectors in a standard cap, one 22mm with a spout - works a treat.

Have you a compressor? make hole in storage tank and shove the air line in it. The pressure will push the veg oil out.

12V bilge pump or fuel transfer pump with long leads so can clip to car battery

If you have a compressor you could make one of those diff oil pump things. It might work.

I've got a cut down 5l petrol can that I attach with a clamp to the drain gutter then just pour it into the tank from what ever you store your bio in, mine was in 25l plastic jobbers. I'll get you a picture tomorrow if you want

The transfer pump in the middle is plumbed to the tank or can be used to suck and fill another tank. The other pumps are for neat diesel, veg oil and the Eberspacher.

Currently the gloop I bought as 'new' soya oil from a fella near Kings Lynne (1000 litres) is so thick that the pump takes around 25 minutes to fill an empty tank. Normally around 5 minutes.

Not happy.
