Hi ive got 2 discovery 1`s 1 is a 1996 v83.9efi the other is a1998 300tdi with edc

Will The Hawkeye Diagnostic give me live data results on these too vehicles ?? as neither are obd2 compliant and the plugs for them both i beleive are 5 pin

thanks guys for your advice:)

yes the 16 pin obd2 socket is for alarm windows etc the engine ecus are not wired to it, they have there own 5 pin plugs the advert sayes that it does all these wonderfull things but there is nothing to say that it will read live data for example from a 14cux ecu for the v8, or the ecu for the tdi, im trying to work out if its worth buying as its 300quid to then find out it will not give me anything but fault codes
So is there anyone who has got one of these and a disco 1 96-98 who can clarify wether it does work and give me live data or not
thanks guys

The EDC TDI will connect through the 16 pin socket, the 14 CUX has its own 5 pin on the v8.
What diagnostic tools will work on what is down to you to find out from the supplier,I have T4 and Autologic, they both do both cars.

well i was thinking about shellin ut the 300 quid for this hawkeye tool, im just unsure as to what it will do,
mt tdi is slow very slow and im interested in finding out what the boost sensor and airflow meter readings are as well as temp sensor
i dont really want to take it to the dealer as thats the first 100 gone and as i do not have a n engine light on i feel as though im wasting my time
if the hawkeye is capable of doing this genuinly then as i have to discos it may be worth it in the long run for me cash wise

Personally for the info that you will get via Hawkeye, I wouldn't bother.

I used Hawkeye on a large number of DII's and it was a real advantage, but not on DI.

Why don't you just buy a boost gauge and strap that on, then you'll see if the turbo is working correctly or not.

Incidently, have you stripped and cleaned the fuel sedimenter by the rear offside wheel?

Dave

yeah thats on my crap power post lol, so you think im wasting my time with the hawkeye then, ive got it in the back of my head that the ecu wouldnt be able to send the info i want anyway lol
thanks guys for your input i dont think ill bother getting one now

it's your choice, but i can tell you that it covers all kind of Disco engines with live data readings, for some of them programming and it covers the ABS, airbags and security aswell ...for those with separate connector on the ECM they supply the proper cable(a few extra pounds for that) .... if u buy a hawkeye and the proper cables then u unlock it for D1 it will cover all D1's by selecting the type of the engine from the menu) here are the menus from hawkeye user manual(only those related to Disco 1 engines):
