Freelander 1 Oem track rod ends

Now then guys , i just bought a pair of lemforder oem track rod ends off ebay . My first foray into diy mechanics . Since I have owned my beautiful landy sky for 2 weeks now , shes had 4 brand new pirelli all weather tyres and a parcel shelf lol.
Any tips and some luck greatly appreciated as i will be having ago with basic tools .

Easy job. Unscrew the locking screw a couple of turns, then count the number of turns it takes to remove the old TRE, then count the same number of turns to fit the new one, after you compare the old and new side by side, to ensure they're identical. Oh and the threads are handed, LH for the left and RH for the right.

Since you’re in Scotland, the land of road salt, I’ll add to Nodge’s advice.

1. Shear off the locking screw.
2. Bang a chisel into the gap to open up the thread.
3. Undo ball joint and pop out (hammer the outer taper).
4. Use the ring end of a spanner to start undoing the TRE.
5. TRE will jam up with rust.
6. Back off the TRE, wire brush thread and WD40 it.
7. Repeat 4-6 until it’s off.

As I didn't notice your location, I'll add this. If the above fails to shift it, then replace the complete track rod with a new one from Advanced Factors. They aren't as expensive as you think.
