Oats coolant

Hi I been halfords and asked them for some coolant/antifreeze they checked and said I would be best use the pink oats one it's the better one but been told on Landrover groups ect that carnt use it
Anyone know If can use it or not disco 1 N reg 300tdi

use it in mine.

And in mine for the last 13 years, although petrol and R reg, replacing the stuff every 5 years sold it for me.

Cheers will use it in mine as got 11 litters of it

I just use Prestone... get gallons of it when Costco go crazy and reduce it down to 3 quid a 4 ltr container.

Even now Halford's stuff is only£25 for 5litres so not a great issue at a fiver a year for antifreeze, and even less with their trade card.

ive been told you should not use oat if you have a brass rad, its only for (newer) cars with ally rads, i used it on a 94 toyota 4wd with a brass rad and it wrecked the rad within 6 months.

Its not an issue for me as i doubt I could go 5 years with the disco without having a reason to drain the system :frusty: so I use the green stuff

Tiz bollox - userd OAT in my 300TDi Disco (& 200TDi before it) for 8 years or so.

is nulon the manufacturer of oat talking bollox when they say it is not suitale for brass radded cars? :fencing:

Oat works fine with brass rad cars. Aslong as its red. Oat red lasts 5 years and has better antitrust properties. Its going to be replaced with purple soon ,g48 I think, can't remember the classification. Purple will be down compatible with everything. It can be bought now from some places.

My understanding is as long as you don't mix your OK (I.e. Red & Blue)

Now over £500 spent on my Disco 1 re welding - Gasp/horror I hear some of you say but she's worth it! (I must learn how to weld)
