Well the verdict is back from the body shop - it is repairable with the cost at approximately £7k. They have based the value of the car at £16k.

Bear in mind that the car cost £18,800 new - its 15 months old and has 33k. miles on the clock - how on earth can the insurance assessor base the value at £16k. - not sure what the book price is on a 15 month old TD4 Auto Freestyle but I bet it aint that much??

Anybody had any experience of this and any comments?

they also factor in the cost of disposing of the vehicle and add that to the value. When I had an accident in my astravan last year, the guy in the bodyshop said the insurance companies were repairing up to 120% of the value of the car, because of the costs to them of disposing of the vehicle

Yup, when sumwun drove frew back o me A4 the oilies told me it shudda been written off but asser fella told em ta fix it...never gripped the road propley ever again...shudda burried the poor gal.
