Yeah, we were hoping for 9.30 too. I'll be on channel 10 then!
My first time at Cowm, so should be an interesting one. Will be good to feel the MT tyres do there stuff cos they feel crap on the road! lol
cheers, Joe

its a good place mate, first thing is its monstrously huge, so theres plenty to do

theres some good rock crawling, which is fun, and lots of massive hills that you dont often get at pnp sites.

there is also some good tracks, up, down, around etc, and also some very difficult muddy ruts sections, and peat bog sections -which are the worst, but always attract the best recoveries.

it's a good place, and the burger van is great too.

only complaint? always very very windy!

Cheers for the info.
Yep looking forward to it. I got a feeling this RR is more capable than I am, being a newbie to offroading. To be honest I've read and heard all sorts, so it'll be good to be around folk that actually do it, rather than just talk about doing it.
A work colleague of mine lives in Littleborough, which isn't that far away from the site. Apparently there's a steep hill to get to the site which can be challenging enough if we get enough of the white stuff the news has been banging on about??

Yeah the road to the site goes up and up and up! I bet it would be very difficult in snow, would have to winch up it!!

Hadn't thought of that, let's see! :)

My work colleague who lives in Littleborough, not far from the site, says there's been only a light covering of the white stuff so far.......though I guess we could all have some tonight?!

Hope you chumps all had a good'n today, another no show from me :(
got myself tied up preparing/sorting out how to rebuild the chimney stack in time for Christmas, scaffoldings foooking expensive!!
Also the discos not starting in this cold -hopefully just needs a new battery

Top day for us lot, sorry Joe I didn't spot you. There was some guys with me with rangeys, and another one I saw with 37s, and a couple of bobtails - but didn't see a classic in your light blue colour...?

Anyway, there was probably lots I didn't see. How was your day anyway mate? Did you manage ok? How was the car - any breakages?!

Cheers :)

great!....Work mate Rob and I went round. gave him a turn and helped pull out a Disco. I had a scarey moment in the pond. Forgot I had taken the ignition coil cover off, so I stalled when it got wet!...thankfully restarted and reversed out sharpish!! ...We got there about 9.40, the organisation was a bit crap for a newbie whos not been there before, but would defo recommend to everyone...A freindly bunch of people.
People in road tyres getting stuck on the red route slowed up the action, but it was a good excuse to get out and help.

good work mate!

let me know when youre going somewhere again, will have to work harder to find you next time!

yeah you gotta watch out with them pesky v8s in the water, has taken hours and hours of prep to get mine to run in water... :(

tbh yeah the organisation is a bit vague there, but tbh mate its like that at most places. all you can do is wait for the advertised start time, and then you can just go explore. when i forst started going i kinda expected someone to wave me off or something :D but it soon be comes clear thats not the idea...!

glad you had a good day mate :)

Yeah, there was a 'parade' around the green route, but it soon became clear the motor was capable of much more than I was putting in front of it (The motor is probably more capable than me to be honest). Though the Vitara with the front ripped off and the rolled Suzuki served as a reminder that it gets dangerous if the fun isn't sensible.... but I could definately get hooked on this tho!.
First job is to fit the replacement ignition covers to coil n cap, replace the other inner wing (a hole in it wouldn't have helped!), and fit some better door seals!!!!!! (I replaced the fuel cap when I got back...turns out the seal dropped off when I was filling up on the way, and the raised tank meant we had to put a temp' tape seal around the cap as any sharp left turn left a fuel trail!!!)
cheers. I'll keep an eye out here, see if anyone here is going off-roading locally'ish
