Hello,

I realised this morning that I currently have no nearside main beam. I have full beam and side lights but only the offside lights up when main beam is switched on. I've changed the bulb and it's made no difference. Does this have anything to do with me replacing the bulbs behind my instrument panel? As in, is there anything there that I could have dislodged or are both sides on the same feed for main beam? Its a wipac halogen kit by the way.

Cheers

Thanks, I'll check the bulb holder. It's the big three spade halogen bulb type system with a springy metal bracket which flips over t hold the bulb in place. I've never known such a ****ty fitting in all my life. The chrome like metal support ring that pushes over the front of the glass screws down at a funny angle as opposed to sitting flush in the frame and the whole thing just looks a bugger!

THought so. So no brass strippy thing? Stand by wot I said - start with the obvious then work back - we're here if u want any more help.....

Nope, but i've had plenty of problems with those ****ty brass strips greening over with my brake lights in the past. Well it can't be the fuse can it, because the other side is working fine on main beam and they both run on the same circuit I believe? That pretty much narrows it down to the wire between the bulkhead and the lamp its self. I'll have a look later on.

Cheers :)

If the guy wants advice, should I have to search around to find out wot he's trying to fix - wouldnt it be easier for him just to include the info in the question Mr Rattty?

yes but if it is in the defender section it might just narrow it down. It doesn't matter then if it's a 90/110/130/150/170. It also doesn't matter if it's a N/A, TD, 200tdi,300tdi, TD5 cos they all have the same 3 pin plug on the bulbs.

Ok I cant confirm that - will bow to ur superior knowledge. Was just pointing out that the other "advice" was to check the brass springy thing behind the bulb which I dont think would have helped him much with a 3 spade terminal. If I am speaking out of turn then I will wind my neck in. Have only recently got a LR but have done a fair bit of repair works in the past on other vehicles so if I can help someone then I will...............
