Clearly we have here an example of noobius ignormaous no doubt you googled Land Rover forums UK, or some such; LZ came up and you dived in without further ado; basically, this is a Land Rover forum, however, the vast majority of its' members do not hold the Gay, I mean Freelander in great esteem; a lot of us think they are ****e quite frankly, we are all (as you would have discovered, had you delved a tad deeper) a bunch of up-ourselves, relentless ****-takers: if you have a robust sense of humour, then you might enjoy LZ, however, if you prefer your forums a little more genteel and a LOT less fun; I suggest you try LRO; they have strict prefects!!
Err.... possibly not, 'reality-overload' seems to have struck at LRO this week.....
Even I have thought I had wandered into an alternative universe on a few threads.......
The latest, and least bizare of which, and I have to say, the least smutty, has, since last night ran to eight pages of teniouse puns over a flat battery.......
Perhaps LR 4x4 Forum would be more apt.......
Thanks. I am just confused and surprised by your comments. Please expand if you do not mind...
Right, cast your mind back to a time before mobile phones..... Land-rovers were a 'model' in the vast BL range, driven by farmers, soldiers and builders; you know, rough and ready types.
Its 'sister' the Range Rover, was driven by blokes with big guns and penchant for shooting peasants.
Land-rover drivers could, provided they remembered to duck qucikly enough, take odd pop, and the off pheasant, at Rangie Drivers.
Then the Japanese started making 4x4's, and Land-rover drivers and Range Rover drivers had the opportunity to unite, and take the **** out of them instead......
And when Suzuki brought out the little SJ, it became the absolute object of ridicule for Landy-folk.
Of course, by now the cult of the 'Vogue' had struck, and rushing to cash in, BL shoved the Rangie further up market, and launched a dressed down model for the middle-classes......
Giving a great oportunity for 'real' landying folk to take the **** at the 'school-run' brigade.....
But then, after a decade of ****taking at the SJ..... Land-Rover, by now a marque in its own right, decide to launch the Free-Lander......
And people that had previousely bought Suzuki's had something with a green oval on the front.......
To 'Real' Landying folk, the Free-Lander isn't a 'propper' off-roader..... its a demonstration to Suzuki of what they did 'wrong' and an oportunity for thier buyers to be 'educated' into the ways of 'real' Landy thinking.......
Put up with the 'flak' find the funny side, and in no time at all, you'll be looking around for a battered 90...........
