Hi all,

I am looking at buying a 2004 facelift HSE TD4 for my wife as her BMW 530i is too ducy to drive to the shops and back!

Has metallic blue paint with cream leather interior. Just needs some tidying and it will be a great car. The only down side is it has 160k on the clock, which does not bother me as it’s a BMW 1.9l engine and drives like new with lots of old servicing bills. (Apparently lady owner from new manly motorway driving)

The only items I can see require attention is a bit of bodywork, a good clean, one rear window not working and one parking sensor not working.

The sat nav unit has also been removed and replace with a retro fit unit (still has the nav cd in the glove box!) - is it worth putting back in ?

So what should I look for being a major problem?

Thanks

This is becoming a bug bear of mine. The fuel tank cradle. They rot and will become an MOT failure. You need to get under the vehicle and try to feel above the metal tubing where it meets the tank. I had gaping holes which couldn't be seen until the cradle had been removed. The rest of the cradle was past it anyway.
They're also expensive to replace (£300 plus). Mine was exceptionally bad, which may have been due to the previous owner living on the coast. with the salt spray etc.

Thanks all,

davidsmith1307, probably agree if the sat nav is as useless as my 2004 vogue one, best use a tom tom !
colonial, thanks will check it out
