Hello,

Im new to this and don't have a clue what im looking for. I am looking for a Range Rover not to fused what engine as my insurance is all coming out at around £1200 a year for 2.5td or 4.6 v8 which i can live with at 22 lol Im looking to spend around £3k not a lot but was wondering what to look out for and what would be the best engine to go for as i really dont have a clue. Dont do that many miles as most only really use to drive to work and back which is not 20miles a day.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Phil

What about a 4 litre petrol on LPG, nice and cheap if you can get it to run properly, personally I've got a diesel as better economy.

Do some searches on here about what to look out for when buying a Range Rover, I assume you're looking for a P38. There are quite a few threads which will give you all the info you need.

Test drive a few to get an idea what they're like to drive and then you'll notice any differences.
Best plan is to take someone along who knows about them.

i'm sure theres a fella on here from scouse land, he prolly wont mind you popping over to have a peek at his, prolly wont mind you having a drive or at least bieng a passenger in it!!

also go round as many dealers as you can find with em in, go for a test drive in each, i prefer the petrol version of anything but especially the v8!!

anything that doesnt work need fixing or money off. scour these forums for problems and fixes and cost of fixes, make a list, a very big list and check it off for each car you view.

theres millions of faults and signs of impending doom so be careful.

i had a v8 4.6 recently but let it go for a diesel i like both but would prefer the 4.6 but not the 12mile a gallon

i booked my r/r in to the garage for its MOT,started it up went to put my seatbelt on and found that the belt would not go into the receiver.i have put a leather interior in my car and the fittings are a different size, well done range rover.:mad::mad:

dont know if anygood to you but i just been asked if i wanted to buy set 4 18inch like new tyers spaces and nuts £250 if you interested i can have a look at them i would have liked them but my money tree has died j

Hi Phil,

If you're not doing many miles then a 4.6 Vogue is great value. They are fully loaded and can be found for around £3-4k for X/Y plates. The engines are very low stressed and will work for miles if cared for.
