I have started working my way through the new addition
1995 discovery trying to sort out the many anoying gremlins.

I have searched through various threads and used the search
functions but can't seem to find anything, so does anyone
have any experience in fixing electric windows??? I did only
have the one window working, which was the drivers window, but
even this makes a grinding noise and will not close all the way
leaving a 1/4" gap, which I have to manually close.

After taking all the door cards off, unpluging all the plugs and
cleaning the contacts I now have two windows working, drivers
and front passenger, but for the life of me I can't get the rears
to work :mad::mad:

Any ideas anyone????

I pursume there must be power as on the
way to work this morning one of the rears
did work for a short while to my surprise.

I have checked the fuses and swaped them around, I
also done this with the switches just to makesure
the problem didn't lay here.

Just a thought try pressing the rear window down switch then still holding it down switch the ignition on, see if the window works if it does its probably a dry joint on the board under dash.

No just tried that didn't make any difference, its frigging anoying

is there power to the rear windows?

Right just been out and took my circuit tester the type
that has the crocadile clip at one end and a bulb inside
a screwdriver type tool. I tested the fronts first and
when touching a certain contact on both front switches
the windows went down, but when doing the same to
the rears nothing happened, cant seem to find my multi
meter at present, but ding this little test I dont think
i do have power to the switches.

Is there a seperate ecu for rear and front windows and
could this be at fault???

could you not swap the plugs on the back of the switches from front to rear that will atleast tell you if the window motors are working and/or the switch

Cheers Wilts I did try this but still no good, thanks

Google is your friend

Cheers Alexdon that is brill I will try that tonight

Thanks everyone for your help

Fantastic followed the procedure in the linky and I now
have working rear electric windows couldn't be happier.

Thanks all for the help

I couldn't agree more Alex when you've got garages charging £40 per
hour plus just for labour it helps so much if you can do as much
as you can yourself and with forums like this it makes it so much
easier... thanks again
