its a bit fiddly to gerroff but its new an it int wore in yet so it,s a wait an see job i think to whether it gets a hole or not,but overall pretty impressive for wot it is
 
Hey – A first customer and impression in this thread. Guys I love your language but it’s not the English I learned in school and I can’t find the words in my dictionary. I read your replies three times and now I understand.

I always liked it a bit tighter than looser.

The first tool had a much larger grip on the underside.

The problem - all of the mud that my flap didn’t catch was not only caught in the grip but packed in the grip to the point that it pushed under the cover and inside the recess. I then ran the locking edge throughout the complete lower side; this closed the hole but reduced the grip. The consensus between the 5 of us comparing the options chose the cover that was completely closed. They all agreed that once they started using it, it became easier to remove. One thing that you can say is that you don’t have to worry about it falling off to easily, even if you’re doing 150 km/h. Keep an eye on the Defender Trophy in SA in March; our cover will be tested to the extreme.

The thing that I don’t understand –only one person from this forum (oil dipper?) has bought a cover and I’m selling them at my cost. I sold 470 yesterday at nearly 2 times the price that I’m asking here in the sales section. Maybe it isn’t such a good idea for all.
 
after fitting one to my series 3 i have to say i am impressed! the big test will be its first green laning session as anyone who knows me will tell you i am not shy of trees (you should see the scratches down the side of the landy

Yet to be tested at speed but I doubt it will fall off on its own as it fits nice and tight. Just like it says on the tin.

It’s nice when a plan comes together and you get input like this. It makes the hours and hours of sanding damn milling lines out of the tool worth it. Yesterday we needed to make a road trip to Prague. On the way home we passed a new Defender parked on the side of the road. I stopped and left a wrapped cover under the wiper arm with a note to let him know that we make these just up the road and asked him to let me know if it fits. He wrote me an email at 7 in the morning and was here before ten to buy 50 more. I asked him if he planned on selling them and he told me, “no, I have three more Defenders and a lot of friends”.

Does anyone here ever worked in the Land Rover factory? I have a hunch.

These covers have fit every Defender and Series III (109) dating back to 1972 and not a single person has told me otherwise. I was thinking that Land Rover has only one stamp to cut the fuel filler holes and has used it since at least 1972. I figure that these presses are large, expensive and could cut millions of aluminum sheets. If they build around 25,000 Defenders a year that’s less than 100 punched holes per working day. Most of us could cut a hundred holes in panels in hour or two, therefore there was never a need to build a second or new hole press.

Can someone tell me if this is the case? If yes, I have one more question. Does the press cut the hole and bend the edges at the same time or are there two separate tools? It seems to me that they have one to cut and one to bend. I say this based on the fact that the edges very in thickness on the sides and top but are never more than 5 mm. If the left side is a bit thicker the right side is thinner and vice versa.

The first prototypes are finished and the tool will be finished within a week.

Also - We have some new rear speaker housings that will sell for 1/3 the price of the genuine and all a hell of a lot better - look better, match the trim contour and color (grey or black), easier to fit, can fit up to 160 mm speakers and you don't have to remove your tail light cover.

I love these machines and would love to quit my job and do something that I love -
 
Im afraid they won't fit mine.

I would actually quite like one, but as this pic will show my fuel filler is not the type yours is. I think this cover will fit any defender with a rear mounted tank - the early 90's had them under the driver.

Well guys - I screwed up. When Discomania sent me that picture back in ‘post 8’ without the top edge in the frame I thought he was playing with my head. I told him that ‘we don’t do square holes’. Following a bunch of similar posts I have to admit that I’m wrong - although I had warned you all that I’m a newbie.

I would like to make a cover for the square holers and would happily send free covers to anyone who has a square hole if they send me the following info:

1. The year and model of their vehicle.
2. The width and height of the opening in millimeters, to the nearest tenth of a mm. Calipers would be best for this. If anyone had a radius measurement tool, the corner radius would be helpful.
3. Your address.

It would take about a month before I have the first prototype ready. I would send them as a test part, make adjustments and send you all a finished part. I really have no vehicle to measure or test them on. The more people who answer this the better, everyone measures a bit differently and I would take the averages.
