My Invention - Built out of necessity – something we can all use

The biggest problem you'll have is that there is no lip on these square holes. It is just folded at 90degrees.

Looking at this picture in post 8 it looks like a lip is there.




It also looks like Discomania has a really clean vehicle..............................

My 1987 TD 90 is different and the old tub that I took off is the same as the replacement. The replacement was a pickup rear tub as it has the rope cleats on it and the original tub was a van as it doesn't have the rope cleats. Having had a closer look there is a good lip on each side but not top or bottom both of which are sloping

Great detail photos - thank you. I think that we could make a cover that wouldn't fall off. The only problem is that I don't see how we could make a drip edge on the top. Water running down the side of the vehicle would run right in.

the photo you posted is a TD5. Pikey's is an earlier one. my 96 300tdi is the same.

No more than it already does. But to be honest I don't think there would be a market for the earlier square tubs anyway. as nothing gets in and stays in it all just runs straight out again. I would stick to the ones you produce now, and see how many requests you get for the earlier ones.

thats what i have been saying all along. I dont see why i would need one. i have no trouble with mine (a square one).

That's true G-spot But it's kinda hard tae hold what's not in yer hand sometimes

Yeah i've never had an issue with mine filling up, it appears to be muck thrown up by the wheel. Mine is a 1984 LR 90. If you still want them i will take some measurements when i can, i dnt have a radius tool though.

You may very well be right, I filled up today and laid it on the pump. I didn't forget it but easily could have. I had tried a bunch of different glues on the cover and nothing holds. I just went out to the garage and tested something. I drilled a hole on the inside top and stuck a cord through. This would work if your worried about forgetting it. I think it would work better on the bottom in the center (thicker lip) and if the cord is thin enough shouldn't affect the seal.



Otherwise - finally found an acceptable (and only) way to print on the thing - Hot Branding. Just did the first covers - hot off the press. What do you think?

They'd look better with LandyZone - Land Rover Forum on them
