Ok, so no-one saw me sneak into here to ask for help so thats ok.........................
Right, problem is as follows, Er Indoors was out in the Freelander '02 TD4, when the fuel light came on. Ok so there should still be plenty of fuel in the tank and was only going 15 miles or so.
Arrived without problems and parked on a very slight downhill slope. Came out later and the car refused to start, turned over but wouldn't go. Assuming the low fuel level may have something to do with the problem, and also that the under bonnet fuel pump sounded like it was pushing a lot of air through, we put approx 10 litres of fuel into the car.
Still refused to start and the under bonnet pump still sounds like it is full of air and wont bleed through. With the battery starting to fail, I had to resort to calling the AA, oh god the shame
An agent came out and came to the conclusion that the 'in tank'? fuel pump was not working and delivering fuel to the pump under the bonnet. The car has now been recovered home.
Can anyone help prove if the pump(s) are working correctly, what and where do i need to disconnect pipes etc. If these symptoms don't sound like pump problems, what can I check, do, hit with hammer, burn etc to sort this out.
Need to get this sorted quick as Er Indoors is now on about nickin the Rangie til its sorted, arrgggghhhhh
All ideas, thoughts, suggestions greatfully recieved.
