You could have got the welding shivers mate, bad flu like symptoms from welding zinc.

Me and my bro were sick as dogs after about a week of welding my back end together, took a while to work out the problem. Zinc poisoning FTL :(

Anyway well nice to see you have a bed built, welcome to the DisCamper team :)

Drink couple glasses of milk before welding galvanize coated steel, something about it helps body stop absorbing the fumes..;)

Well Mikes last full on day went like this:

I started putting the loom back in:







While Mike started installing all the new Kunifer brake lines i had made:







I also had an Earls extended rear flexi made to match the already extended fronts:







Then i flushed one of the 5 matrix out i have and installed that along with the blower motor:







Lifted it on the ramp to fit the front to back hose:







And the flexi going in with a custom chassis bracket to the new line:







Due to the Galv'd chassis and the fact they were an early creation of the X-Arm which werent 100% accurate, they needed machining down so they clamped up tight again:











So theyre now back on and tight as they should be!
And finishing off Schutz'ing after welding the p-clip bolts inside it melted some of it off:











And to finish up, sealing the rear quarters back on:

Want some brake hoses myself, wish i could just buy a roll of hose and some fittings and make my own.

Do they have to have crimped ends or can you get threaded compression type ends?
 
People say that land rovers are a cheap hobby, far from it, I have an easy 10 grand in mine and its a fairly stock looking disco on small tyres which I have never paid anyone else to work on.

Needless to say the original plan was to keep it cheap :rolleyes:

These were threaded compression ends with a olive. more expensive than crimp on ends but with the benefit of having a roll of hose and making them custom length to suit the job without having to fork out on a crimper.
 
Mikey, did you get chassis sand blasted and galved or acid dipped.

Dan had it sand blasted after the chassis was modified and then straight to galving after drain holes were drilled to let the air out during galving.

they do do a acid dip/clean and then into a stabilizer as part of the dipping process, but they wont take one in covered in paint rust and waxoil etc..
