blown the head towing my cattle back from oswerstry show tonight, i think she gave up at ellesmere but soldiered on to a family freinds at tilstock as the aa would most likely not tow a livestock trailer, switched her off in the yrd, come to start her up to move, sluggish turnover so guessin a full piston and aqualock..... fed up with the engine as it is plus if it aint the gasket it could be a cracked head or block, as its stupidly sluggish even after tweaks etc etc, so cheapest resolution is to find a genuine running lump from a knacker, can anyone help, dont wanna spend silly money as my bank account is currently ****ting itself from another large payout :( shropshire cheshire or staffordshire prefered cos of transport but any offer will be considered

thanks in advance phil

Why not strip head off to check pistons etc have head checked and skimmed ? It's a nice easy job and shouldn't cost too much compared. To a new second hand lump that could be worse than the one you have !! If in doubt get it checked by a good land rover mechanic!! Even replacing the head would be cheaper than changing the engine ..

its gonna be stripped anyway but the engine had a recon head on it b4 i brought it, ran fine till pump screwed up then ran hot a couple of times after that untill this.... in my eyes knowin the history of this lump if i can land on the right lump ill be happier

I've got a good 300Tdi down here in Pembrokeshire.

Came out my own Discovery that I wrote off in a 40mph arguement with a tree. Its got somewhere in the area of 68000

Give me a shout.

how much you wanting as i think mine engines about to give up the go..

I'm looking around the £400 mark as its such low miles. I just put a new timing belt and tensioners on it the week before I wrote it off!

Its from my Auto Jap Reimport so its the one with extra horses, goes like stink (for a 300 Auto 2 ton vehicle!!)

£400 for a 300 disco engine :eek::eek:

A good £200 to much :p

Not so in my opinion, i'm actually middle of the road in my price, with people asking as much as £600 plus for the same engine. I know there is a difference between asking and getting but even so!

Mine full service history genuine 69984 miles on the clock and the cambelt and idlers changed just 200 miles ago.
