There been some talk on other fourms and within 4x4 groups/clubs in Wales about Motoring organistions refusing to recover 4x4 after greenlaing trips or outside pay day sites/trails.

Not talking here about actually on the lane or in the site itself, more after trucks been towed to the main road or tarmac and then the owners ringing the AA/RAC and after the bloke turn up told they are not covered due to the small print.

It seems some patrolmen have discrestion over accident damage stuff like snapped track rods, smashed sumps, ripped off axles

has anyone been refused or is it a local problem with some patrolmen

When I was up at Goathland one of the lads snapped a cambelt. we didn't bother with AA/ Rac Just towed him home. (about 50 miles) If you go with a group yer mates shud make sure everyone gets home. or at least to somewhere safe that you can leave it till it can be fixed.

You are NOT covered if you have been to a pay and play site, off road trial or track day according to the breakdown clubs. You ARE covered if you were greenlaning on BOATS as they are legally the queens highway. Specialist charges may apply to winch you out and onto the truck if you get bogged off road or your vehicle is particularly difficult to load. The driver of the vehicle NOT the club is liable to pay these charges unless it is a lease vehicle.

The AA picked me up outside the gate to Kirton Quarry when I fooked me gearbox an dint seem at all bothered that I'd done it offroad.

Depends on the patrolman. If he don't wanna do the job he just tells his control room you have been trialling or pay and play etc. If he doesn't know or care he will just sling yer on the back. If you ever get the situation where you need to call em out get away from the site and onto a tarmac road. Clean yer landy off best you can and if they ask what you were doing tell them you have been driving byways open to all traffic. If he argues just remind them that it is still the queens highway and it wasn't competetive. Therefore you are covered.

Yeah but if you are sat outside the entrance to a pay and play site with a landy covered in mud of the same colour as everybody else's landy is covered in you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work it out.

The moment you show aggression or swear at a patrol your membership is null and void. Avoid it. be polite and courteous and state your case. Don't let rip at the patrol. Phone the club direct and complain.
